Time For Change!

It has been a while since I have posted on my blog. I have been very busy with my life. My biggest accomplishments recently have been some plumbing that has been long needed. It seems as if I can accomplish anything I set my mind to once I commit to doing it. My condo had several plumbing issues. Water was leaking from the handles in the shower. (fixed) The toilet had a phantom flush. (fixed) The garbage disposal broke. (I replaced) Now my new issue is the dishwasher is leaking! So annoying. I actually took the entire dishwasher apart and it is still leaking! BUT I am thinking that I reinstalled the motor slightly off which is why. So at some point soon I will take it back out and pull it apart.

In my shop one of my shampoo sinks has not worked for quite a while. Youtube’d the problem and it also is fixed. Then the mop sink was dripping and voila…fixed! Saved myself probably at least 1000.00! Just so great to get these little annoying things out of the way. It is my view that when you have things that need to be handled left undone it keeps you from moving forward in other areas of your life. It is called mind clutter:-)

Currently I am making great progress on my Precision Nutrition Certification. I have procrastinated for so long but have finally buckled down. In the process it has caused me to be very aware of my own nutrition. Recently I discovered someone that wrote a great recipe book for very healthy meals. Her name is Ella Woodward. She has GREAT ideas on how to eat healthy very easily. I have a new high powered food processor which has been amazing. I have made almond butter myself! I love it! Monday I made Cacao almond balls. Yummo! They taste like brownies. 5 ingredients… 1 cup of almonds, 2 cups of pitted medjool dates, 2 tbsp. coconut oil, 2 1/2 tbsp. almond butter and 4 tbsp. of cacao powder. Pulse almonds in food processor so they are chopped. Then add medjool dates and coconut oil and pulse till mixed. Finally add the almond butter and the cacao powder and pulse. Then take a teaspoon and dig in and make almond balls. It makes 20 to 25. Put in Freezer for an hour then take out and refrigerate. So healthy. You can add a tablespoon of hemp powder if you want to use before workouts.

My favorite dinner meal lately is quinoa with various vegetables. I have found is best using the rice cooker for the quinoa. Cook 1 cup of quinoa with 2 1/2 cups water, juice of 1 lemon, 1 tbsp. of tamari sauce. Then choose the vegetables. Tonight I used broccoli and cherry tomatoes. I sauté them in a little olive oil and 1 tbsp. of tamari sauce. Once they are both done I add the vegetables to the rice cooker and add 1 tbsp. of tahini and another tbsp. of tamari. Also if you would like salt and pepper to taste! So good! .

That is how I have been trying to eat most of the time. I have been eating lots of vegetables. I have grown to love asparagus. I am not a huge fan of microwaves but if you wrap the asparagus in paper towels and wet then squeeze, put in the microwave for 60 to 90 seconds it makes the best asparagus that you can eat as a snack. Wanted to pass on some ideas. It is my recommendation that anyone interested go to Deliciously Ella’s website and check out her recipes…they are really good! Oh, one more thing:-) I quit drinking coffee! Replace with cayenne pepper, water and lemon in the morning. Supposed to be great for inflammation.

As far as fitness goes I am teaching lots of TRX. It has been great. At Washington Sports Clubs Kalorama I have 3 Small Group Trainings. One is for anyone that would really like to know how to be a great spinner and also learn how to use the TRX straps. It is called TRX/Spin 30/30. It is really a great class. Then I also have 2 Small Group Trainings that are 1 hour of TRX only. It is really challenging but such a fabulous and fun workout. If you ever feel the need to get in shape I have many options.

Life is good right now. Busy and enjoyable. My hope is that this inspires you to start that healthy lifestyle that you say you want. Little by little step by step is a great way to go. First step is starting!
